Though the medical marijuana convention that had been planned for October 29th at the Pontiac Silverdome had been cancelled due to elected officials and police casting the show as a “pot party”, the need for education and training on the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act has not gone away. A Medical Marijuana Expo, T.H.C. in Michigan Expo (treating health concerns), will be held in Novi this Spring.
It is a brave thing to hold such an even in Oakland County. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard likened medical marijuana businesses and clinics to “organized crime” rather than compassionate care for the chronically ill during a press conference about the raids of two clinics just a few months ago.
The Medical Marijuana Expo is being hosted by The American Medical Marijuana Professionals (AMMP) at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi March 11-13th. The AMMP say their purpose is to educate the community on medical marijuana. The AMMP will provide information and resources for obtaining certification, demonstrations, informational speakers and vendor networking. Their website explains that they are currently working with the City of Novi to determine any restrictions on demonstration abilities, vendor displays, and sales of products.
For more information on this event, please visit AMMP’s website or Rock Financial Showplace.
