A Roseville man was recently convicted of home invasion and killing and torturing an animal. Not only did he break into an elderly woman’s house, he put her cat in the front loading washing machine, turned it on, and killed the cat. Talk about adding insult to injury. Michigan law makes it a felony to kill, torture, maim, disfigure or mutilate an animal. There are some exclusions, such as hunting, fishing and rodent control. This felony is punishable by up to four years in prison, $5,000 to $20,000 in fines, up to 500 hours community service and psychological counseling.
Ty-Shawn Bost was sentenced to two to ten years for both crimes.
