DETROIT (AP) — A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder in the slaying of a Detroit police officer and four counts of assault with intent to murder in the shootings of four others.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Tuesday that Jason Gibson was to be arraigned at St. John Hospital where he was being held on a separate warrant and treated for a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
Worthy said he does not yet have an attorney.
Gibson is accused of killing 12-year police veteran Brian Huff on May 3. The 42-year-old Huff and other officers had answered a report of “shots fired” inside the northeast Detroit duplex.
Huff was inside the house when he was shot multiple times. The other officers were outside providing backup.
